Giving Back

I've been accepted to join a network of professional photographers who donate free portrait sessions for pediatric cancer patients. The Gold Hope Project reaches out to families who have children fighting cancer, capturing beautiful moments for them and sharing their inspiring stories with the world. It is these touching images that will continue to shine a light on the need for research and better treatment for these brave fighters.

If you know a family that is facing a cancer diagnosis with their child, please encourage them to go to the website and learn how they can apply for a free session with me.

My Story

I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay, where there was more to capture than the sun at the horizon: bushels upon bushels of steamed crabs, whatever the changing tide brought to our stretch of beach, the wildlife visitors, and the trees that grew to watch over me. As the seasons changed, so did I. Writing and telling stories became my raison d’être. Soon I reported neighborhood news for the local newspaper, and my journalism career weaved in and out of print and online publishing. I found my place as a magazine editor. I picked up my Nikon again when the adventures with my husband and two curious kids led me to document our story. I truly feel at home behind the camera. Photography is a natural extension of what I've always wanted to do: see things, meet people, and tell a story.

Xo,
