You've hired the photographer (me!), picked the location, planned the outfits, and today is the day! To help you make the most of your family photography session day, here's a comprehensive checklist so things run as smooth as they can.

The Session Day Checklist

  1. Make sure you've added your photographer's phone number to your contacts list. Reach out with any last-minute details or preferences.
  2. Iron clothing the night before; plan backup outfits, if needed.
  3. Pack a tote with snacks, water, any items you want in your photos. (I recommend bringing a little stash of Cheerios, especially if it's near snack/dinner time. And feel free to feed the little ones anytime :-) )
  4. Have fun getting ready (without the kids)!
  5. Turn up the music on the drive to our session.
  6. Remove watches (unless special), hair ties from wrists, phones/wallets from pockets, etc. Wipe children's faces. Apply lipstick, if wanted. I will do my best to be your mirror.

Little Reminders

Remember, you don't need to bring a thing, but feel free to bring lovies, balls, or anything else you think your family will enjoy playing with or that is special to include in a photo (but it's not necessary!). I will bring blankets you can use.

When the sky is looking iffy: My goal is to always try to have the session, but sometimes Mother Nature gets in the way. I will reach out the day of if the chance of rain is +60% at the time of our session, and we can decide whether to play it by ear or reschedule.

Our session will start on time and end close to time. Please know that I want your family to have a wonderful time and make some memories. As parents, sometimes we worry that our child isn't behaving and that the pictures won't turn out. My goal is to capture everyone as they are in that moment, and I'll do my best to capture everyone in the best light. Hug your crying child, be kind to yourself, and the most important reminder I'll give you is to touch each other and show that connection. That will be how we'll capture the moments you want to remember.
